This page shows you the list charts. By default, the movies are ordered by how many times they have been marked as a favorite. However, you can also sort by other information, such as the total number of times it has been marked as a dislike.

3. The 25 All-TIME Best Animated Films's icon

The 25 All-TIME Best Animated Films

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. They've enthralled or terrified generations of kids, and now they're giant worldwide blockbusters. So what are the best animated features of all time? Using an obscure system of weights and measures, TIME's Richard Corliss has compiled and annotated the countdown, from No. 25 (Lady and the Tramp) to No. 1 (see for yourself). Are your favorites on the list? Let the great debate commence; we know it'll be animated.

6. The 25 Most Infamous Movie Scenes of All Time's icon

The 25 Most Infamous Movie Scenes of All Time

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. There’s no shortage of movie scenes intended to shock, horrify, or disturb audiences, especially within certain genres (horror being a big one). Some scenes, however, have withstood the test of time, almost taking on a life of their own outside the film. Many of the most memorable of these are either physically visceral or emotionally devastating (or both), dealing with highly emotional topics that have a tendency to get under the skin. Scenes featuring rape or torture are particularly likely to evoke powerful responses in viewers, especially (though not always, as we will see) when depicted explicitly. Sometimes these scenes are so notorious that they come to overshadow the rest of the film they’re in, becoming the one thing people (even those who haven’t seen it) associate with the film. This can at times seem arbitrary, especially when there are similar or worse scenes in other films (or even within the same film in question), but for various reasons explored below, these scenes just have a certain staying power, holding up over the years. Fair warning: Lots of descriptions of sex, violence, and sexual violence ahead, along with some spoilers – though these will be avoided when possible in the following countdown:
7. The 27 greatest stop motion movies of all time's icon

The 27 greatest stop motion movies of all time

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. With Laika's visually sumptuous and breathtaking stop motion masterpiece Kubo And The Two Strings dazzling audiences throughout the country, what better time to celebrate this singular and remarkable art form? The effect is created when an on-screen character or object is carefully manipulated one frame at a time, leading to an illusion of movement during playback - and such fiendishly intricate work, which takes years of dedication, deserves to be honoured. Here are the greatest examples of stop motion movie mastery.
8. The 30 Best Action Scenes in Movie History's icon

The 30 Best Action Scenes in Movie History

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. There are hundreds of unforgettable action scenes in the archives of cinema past. To try and specify any small number of them is nearly impossible, maybe even futile, but what’s the fun in not trying? Here you will find 30 great action scenes, separated by category (Chases, Shootouts/Battles, and Fight Scenes). Be forewarned, although it has been attempted to be written with as few spoilers as possible, this list does discuss specific scenes from these films, some of which discuss the climax or ending of the film.

11. The 50 Best Movie Posters Ever's icon

The 50 Best Movie Posters Ever

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. Sometimes, one sheet is all it takes to pique your interest in a film: a dazzling color scheme, a clever concept, an arresting image. Film posters are more than just marketing materials – they’re undeniably an artform in themselves, with the world’s greatest illustrators and designers (including the likes of Drew Struzan, Saul Bass, and Bill Gold who passed away earlier in 2018) producing works that have sometimes become as iconic as the movies they’re promoting. Empire has gone back to the drawing board to find the 50 greatest movie posters to ever grace cinemas, bedrooms, and billboards everywhere.

15. The 50 Worst Movies Ever Made (2004) - Official movie list's icon

The 50 Worst Movies Ever Made (2004) - Official movie list

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. The 50 Worst Movies Ever Made is a documentary from 2004 released on DVD that dresses a list of what could be considered the 50 worst movies ever made by human hands. Although the film itself contains very few informations on the movies themselves and mostly features public domain, boring 40's and 50's sci-fi, drive-in movies, and that the list could be rearranged in a very different order, it is an interesting introduction to the world of psychotronic bad cinema.
16. The 96th Academy Awards - nominees (Oscars 2024)'s icon

The 96th Academy Awards - nominees (Oscars 2024)

Favs/dislikes: 2:0.
17. The Aster-Eggers Watch List's icon

The Aster-Eggers Watch List

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. “On the most recent episode of The A24 Podcast, directors and self-proclaimed Ingmar Bergman devotees, Ari Aster and Robert Eggers, name-dropped 42 movies in the 55 minute runtime (almost a movie a minute). We compiled every film mentioned — from Andrei Rublev to Conan the Barbarian to a whopping 18 Bergman films — into an annotated watch list for those of you that have approximately 87 hours to kill.” Note: The annotated version on their website mentions “Up series (1970-2019) dir. Michael Apted”, and for this reason the original “Seven Up!” movie, directed by Paul Almond in 1964, has not been included in this list.
18. The Austrian Film - Edition Der Standard's icon

The Austrian Film - Edition Der Standard

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. Austrian films selected by the editors of the newspaper Der Standard in cooperation with the film distributor Hoanzl and the Austrian Film Archive. The list contains a mix of classic, modern and arthouse films. Shorts and TV (mini)series from the list are excluded here.
19. The Best 111 Movies You Never Saw's icon

The Best 111 Movies You Never Saw

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. Some of my favorite movies have hardly any checks. Currently, the most-viewed movie on this list, The Winslow Boy, has 224 checks. And that's Mamet, for God's sake! You should watch these movies and love them like I do! Also, you should watch "Can I Get an Amen?", Nate Harrison's great installation piece regarding the seminal "Amen Break" sample. It would be on this list in an instant, but it is not in imdb. Site: nkhstudio.com/pages/amen_mp4.html YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPoxZW8JzzM
20. The Best American B Westerns (Redux) by MrActionAdventure's icon

The Best American B Westerns (Redux) by MrActionAdventure

Favs/dislikes: 2:0.
21. The Best Cinematography of the 21st Century's icon

The Best Cinematography of the 21st Century

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. The technology of cinematography has undergone some of the most seismic shifts in film history this century, with what began in the 2000s as an almost entirely photochemical process transforming into the digitally captured, manipulated, and projected images of today. The art of cinematography, however — using light, color, and texture to express ideas and elicit emotional reactions from the audience — remains intact. In 2017, IndieWire made a list of the best shot feature films of the century thus far; the list was updated in 2020, and what follows is the third and most extensive version of the list. It’s also the first to be spearheaded by the IndieWire Craft team, which has grown considerably since this list was first published. Ranking cinematography is, in some ways, a fool’s errand given the broad variety of genres, resources, and intentions encompassed by the films below, but these are 60 titles that IndieWire believes will stand the test of time.

Favs/dislikes: 2:1. Not a finished product
24. The Bowery Boys's icon

The Bowery Boys

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. The Bowery Boys were fictional New York City characters who were the subject of feature films released by Monogram Pictures from 1946 through 1958. The original main characters were Terrence Aloysius "Slip" Mahoney (Leo Gorcey), Horace Debussy "Sach" Jones (Huntz Hall), Bobby (Bobby Jordan), Whitey (Billy Benedict), and Chuck (David Gorcey, sometimes billed as David Condon). "Sunshine" Sammy Morrison ("Scruno" in the East Side Kids films), declined the invitation to rejoin the gang (later stating in an interview that he "didn't like the setup", possibly referring to the idea of Gorcey and Hall being in the forefront, and being paid much more than the other members). When Bobby Jordan quit the series for the same reason, his character was replaced by Butch Williams (with former East Side Kids Bennie Bartlett and Buddy Gorman alternating in the role). The proprietor of the malt shop where they hung out was the panicky Louie Dumbrowski (Bernard Gorcey - Leo and David's father).
25. The Canon's icon

The Canon

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. What films should be included in the list of all-time greats? Film critic Amy Nicholson (MTV News) and a guest debate, discuss and sometimes harmoniously agree about whether a film should be Canon-ized. Ultimately, the decision is yours. Cast your vote in the Earwolf forums, and decide the legacy of each movie forevermore. No pressure.
