    One Hundred Great Documentaries (OUP)

Favs/dislikes: 18:0. Patricia Aufderheide's list from 'Documentary Film: A Very Short Introduction' - part of the highly regarded series from Oxford University Press. "These documentaries have been widely seen and discussed, and have been in many cases at the center of controversies; in other cases they have provided valuable teaching resources. They are all accessible for renting or buying for your private collection. You can use the index in this book and other books mentioned in the references, imdb.com, your local library, Netflix, Google, and the Library of Congress to find out more about why these films have attracted attention and esteem. Viewing this collection will set you up nicely with a context to watch your latest favorite, argue with the list, and build your own top one hundred." Rotten Tomatoes: Greatest Shakespeare Movies

Favs/dislikes: 18:0. Filmmakers have long mined the riches of The Bard to create some of the most lasting and universal stories in the movie history. With his 38 collected tragedies, comedies, and historical epics, Shakespeare remains one of Hollywood's most prolific screenwriters - after all, his works have been turned into films many times over, adapted splendidly by the likes of Franco Zefferelli (Romeo and Juliet), Baz Lurhmann (William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet), Kenneth Branagh (Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Love's Labour's Lost, As You Like It), Orson Welles (Othello) and Akira Kurosawa (Ran). But which Shakespearean adapatations fared the best with the critics? Find out below in our countdown of the 30 Best Shakespeare Movies of all time. 14. The Dardennes' 79 Favorite Movies.'s icon

    The Dardennes' 79 Favorite Movies.

Favs/dislikes: 18:0. When the comfortable sheen of fiction quickly gives way to the unsettling currents of reality, you know you're watching a Dardennes film. Brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne are the preeminent voices of cinematic realism today. Embracing a docu-fiction aesthetic they honed while making dozens of documentaries early in their career, the brothers bring to light the struggles of the working class in their films, such as Rosetta, The Promise, Two Days, One Night, and, most recently, The Unknown Girl. La Cinetek published a list of the Dardennes' 79 favorite films of the 20th century. The list places a notable emphasis on realism, with films from Ken Loach, John Cassavetes, Krzysztof Kieślowski, and Robert Bresson (four films listed). But the brothers' biggest influence was clearly the Italian neorealist Roberto Rossellini, eight of whose movies appear on the list. VideoHound's Cult Flicks & Trash Pics

Favs/dislikes: 18:0. Based On The 2nd Edition Book Published in 2002 Missing Films On IMDB #138 The Best We Could Do: The Collected Films Of Lamb-Kiss Productions 1988-2000 #383 -The Neon Woman (1970) Directed by Al Bogdan (Missing on IMDB) #1236 - The Weasel That Dripped Blood #1237 - The Ill Eagle Alien #1238 - The Coffee Club #1239 - Puppet Head #1240 - Straining The Angst Amendments: The Original Book Focus' On VHS released tapes, this in some way causes an issue with Double Features/Commercials/Shorts/TV Shows in the way they are presented on IMDB. For television show, VHS tapes would be released in Volumes, not series box sets like how shows are presented today. For TV Shows, I've just included the ENTIRE series of the show. I assumed the writers of the book just mentioned the pilots of these shows just as not to fill half the book with a dozen pages focusing on one show. For VHS tapes that focused on shorts, I've just listed the shorts in order of presentation that was on the box set, unless unavailable on IMDB.
