    American Experience episodes

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. Episodes from the PBS documentary series, American Experience. *For episodes produced outside of the series (ie. Last Days in Vietnam, Command and Control), I used the original IMDb entry. For episodes with multiple parts (ie. Eyes on the Prize, Vietnam: A Television History), I used a single IMDd entry where possible. If I missed one of those, let me know and I'll fix it.

  9. AMP's 40 Great Contemporary Taiwanese Movies's icon

AMP's 40 Great Contemporary Taiwanese Movies

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. Despite the fact that the West mostly knows about Tsai Ming-liang, Hou Hsiao Hsen, Edward Yang and Ang Lee’s works, Taiwan is actually home of a rather vibrant movie industry, which produces films of quality of every category. Particularly during the last few years, when Netflix gave local filmmakers a platform for their films to be known all over the world, the aforementioned fact became even more evident, with the audience discovering the quite high level of Taiwanese productions, beyond the aforementioned masters. In that fashion, we chose to highlight 40 of the best local productions, actually including two works by them, which could, though, very easily be omitted. Without further ado, here are 40 great Taiwanese movies released from 2010 and onwards, with a focus, as always, on diversity. NOTE: Missing on IMDB: * Nine Shots (2019) by James Su * The Child of Nowhere (2020) by Dio Wang
  10. AMP's The 25 Best Asian Films of 2020's icon

AMP's The 25 Best Asian Films of 2020

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. December 12, 2020 AMP Group 29 of the contributors of Asian Movie Pulse from America, Europe and Asia have voted the 25 Best Films of 2020, resulting in what we consider a great selection, despite the difficulties the current year presented to both the shooting and the availability of new movies. In that regard, the list includes films from Malaysia, Japan, Iran. S. Korea, Kazakhstan, Singapore, China, and Taiwan while crime thrillers, animations, shorts, LGBT, comedies, horror, black-and-white and even “quarantine movies” have found a place. Without further ado, here are the best Asian films of 2020, in reverse order. Some films may have premiered in 2019, but since they mostly circulated in 2020, we decided to include them, after an intense fight that lasted for 150 nights (give or take) and ended up with even more victims. 12. An Alternate Feminist Cinema's icon

    An Alternate Feminist Cinema

Favs/dislikes: 2:0. by Dselwyns - Sarah For moving towards a decolonial, anticapitalist, emancipated-from-heteronormativity transfeminist future. This is a list capped at 100 films threading a counter history to cinema. This is not a "ra-ra girl power" collection, or even a list of women's influences on a cinematic canon, but a collection of cinema that is unique in its willingness to show and to radicalize the female experience. Early films on here that may be less overt in their feminist messaging are included either because they show women's place in revolutionary causes, are a first to depict an experience, or have been key in the discussion surrounding this alternate text. All films are briefly annotated explaining why they're here. Discussion is welcome, but please understand that this is made with an awareness of an intrinsically misogynist studio system, a desire for avant-garde and worldwide productions. Therefore, this will not be including the newest wide-release intended to pander to "women's issues". In regards to the lack of so-called "genre films" here, with the exception of a couple art-horrors some exploitation cinema, and one work of speculative fiction, this list has ended up largely documentary centered, as this is what nearly all earlier entries are. The prevalence of documentary may be that the personal is political, and it is far easier to document reality than to work the truth of the world into fiction. not on imdb (probably doesnt qualify) https://letterboxd.com/film/preparacao-i/
