There were 70 contributors this year and their lists led to this top 1000. All credits go to 2013's initiator The One Ring, 2015's organizer beavis and Film Pegasus who has taken on the ordeal from 2017 onwards. 13. Mubi's Top 250 Highest Rated Films's icon

Mubi's Top 250 Highest Rated Films

Favs/dislikes: 23:1. The highest rated films on Mubi (including shorts and mini-series), ranked using this formula: (rating*votes + 3*30) / (votes+30) Last updated: Jan 20, 2015 This list doesn't exist on Mubi, so I had to make it myself. See this spreadsheet for the top 1000. Notes: -I only included the first part of The Human Condition and Histoire(s) du cinéma. On Mubi they have 1 entry for the entire series. -The following films appear twice in the top 250, so I only included 1 of each: Fanny and Alexander and Scenes from a Marriage (theatrical and TV), The Decalogue (mini-series and episode 1), Tie Xi Qu (first 2 parts). To make up for this, I added 4 extra films at the bottom. -2 TV episodes made the top 250: Twin Peaks: Pilot and Sherlock: The Reichenbach Fall. -The list includes Science Is Fiction, which is a collection of 23 shorts.

18. CriterionForum Lists Project - Pre-1920s (Version 3.0)'s icon

CriterionForum Lists Project - Pre-1920s (Version 3.0)

Favs/dislikes: 22:1. Every five years or so the film fans at Criterionforum.org spend half a year discussing the films of a certain decade - viewing and reviewing classics, championing favorites, and highlighting overlooked/underrated films. At the end of the discussion period they each submit lists of their fifty favorite films from the decade, and those lists are then compiled into a top 100, as well as a list of "also-rans" (the films which received more than one vote, but not enough to make the top 100) and "orphans" (those films only voted for by one user.) This list includes both the top 100 and the "also-rans." These are the results of the poll conducted from February-June 2010. The following movies are not on the IMDb: Indochina: Children Gathering Rice (Lumiere, ?) Serpentine Dance (Lumiere, 1899) Indochina: Panorama Taken from a Rickshaw (Lumiere, ?)
19. Empire's The 50 Greatest American Independent Movies's icon

Empire's The 50 Greatest American Independent Movies

Favs/dislikes: 22:1. "As much as blockbusters can thrill us, beyond the well-tended flowerbeds and spacious corner offices of Hollywood there's a world bubbling with creativity, free spirits and up-and-coming talent. Some of the heroes of American indie cinema have gone on to try their hand at multiplex fodder; some have stayed resolutely outside the mainstream. This roll of honour celebrates both, as well as some of the names that didn't achieve the acclaim they deserve. But how you define 'indie'? Do big studios' independent arms count? Should Miramax's output qualify? Our criteria is aesthetic rather than financial: if it feels like an indie, it's in; if it's The Phantom Menace, it's not. Ultimately though, whether they're made for millions or 50p and bits of pocket fluff, it's about great movies that are worth celebrating again..."
