  1. Flavorwire's "The 50 Funniest Stand-Up Specials of All Time"'s icon

Flavorwire's "The 50 Funniest Stand-Up Specials of All Time"

Favs/dislikes: 3:0. This Saturday night promises to be a big one for comedy geeks. First off, Comedy Central is airing Bill Cosby: Far From Finished, the legendary comedian and sitcom star’s first new comedy special in over 25 years. Meanwhile, over on HBO, Sarah Silverman is starring in her first special for the network, We Are Miracles. Though the two comedians couldn’t be more different, both specials feel like landmarks: innovative, intelligent, and brilliantly funny. To celebrate this big night for televised stand-up, we put together the definitive list of great comedy specials created for television, home video, or digital (theatrically released concert films, like Silverman’s Jesus Is Magic, Cosby’s Himself, and — sadly — most of Richard Pryor’s filmed work, don’t qualify). Here’s our 50 best, of all time, with a couple of extras to boot: [November 18, 2013]

From Muybridge to Chazelle : Essential films

Favs/dislikes: 3:0. I love "essential films" lists, so I decided to make my own version. This list (in chronological order) includes critically-praised movies, more obscure but acclaimed films, pictures that achieved a cult status over the years and famous movies that have an important place in the popular culture, regardless of the reviews. Enjoy !

Favs/dislikes: 3:0. "For our new furious list we’ve handpicked 50 movies (old and new) that we think should give you a nice taste of what the genre has to offer. It should be pointed out that there are hundreds upon hundreds of these kinds of films, so this list isn’t meant to be a specific “Top 50 of All Time”, they are simply some of our personal favorites. Our hope is that if you aren’t already a longtime kung fu aficionado you’ll get enough of a KICK out of them to maybe become a new fan and explore."

  18. Generation Film’s Top 20 Films of the Decade (2000-2009)'s icon

Generation Film’s Top 20 Films of the Decade (2000-2009)

Favs/dislikes: 3:0. Generation Film is dedicated to being a quality source for film analysis, criticism, and news. The site is tyrannically managed by its sole writer and opinion spewer Kyle Bruehl and is edited by his better half Morgan Sutton (because we rushed thinkers need someone to put us in check). While film criticism is essentially subjective opinion I attempt here in my reviews to judge a film based solely on its objective merits. This includes how a film is put together with technical abilities (editing, cinematography, direction, lighting), presentation (acting, framing), and intention (message, entertainment point of view, demographic suitability).
