Yahoo.com's 100 Movies To See Before You Die: The All Time Greats

Favs/dislikes: 7:0. The list represents what the staff at Yahoo! Movies feels represents the 100 essential films to see before you die. "To choose the titles for the list, we considered factors like historical importance and cultural impact. But we also selected films that we believe are the most thrilling, most dramatic, scariest, and funniest movies of all time. Some of these films you've seen, and some you may not have heard of, but we believe that each one is a timeless classic that you absolutely have to see." -- Yahoo! Movies Staff

Yahoo's 100 Funniest Movies to See Before You Die

Favs/dislikes: 7:0. "It’s one thing to make a list of movies that are essential. But it’s something else to make a list of movies that are funny. So after some heated debates, a shouting match or two and at least one pie fight, the staff at Yahoo! Movies presents this list of the "100 Funniest Movies to See Before You Die.” We didn’t necessarily choose the “best” comedies out there but those we see as the funniest. An adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale,” for instance, might technically be a comedy although it’s seriously lacking in yuks. Meanwhile “Pulp Fiction” – which is on the list -- might not seem like an obvious choice, but provides more belly laughs in it than anything Kevin James has ever done. Anyway, some of these movies you might have seen, others you might not have heard of, but all of them are pretty darned funny."

Yahoo's 100 Movies to See Before You Die: The Modern Classics

Favs/dislikes: 15:0. "It's easy for classic movie lovers to be nostalgic for Hollywood's "Golden Age" of the 1930s and '40s. And many cineastes will tell you that film as an art reached its peak in the late '60s and early '70s. But the truth is there have been remarkable movies made in the 1990s and 2000s. From big budget blockbusters, to breakout independent films, to discoveries from around the world, we have seen exciting and groundbreaking cinematic work created in the last two decades. For our second installment of our "100 Movies to See Before You Die," we decided to highlight these "Modern Classics" made between 1990 and 2009. Like our first list, we chose movies based on their artistry, originality, and pure cinematic entertainment. And even we were surprised by the results. Look through the list below to see our choices for the top movies made in the last twenty years. ... And take a look at the original "100 Movies to See Before You Die" to see the seventeen films that appear on both lists."
