Originally I only listed three full-length feature films in lieu of Ebert's "Buster Keaton" chapter, but I have since brought this list in line with the official iCheck version of Ebert's Great Movies. Now Buster's body of work "from 1920 to 1929" is represented by selections 18-49 below. An excerpt from Ebert's introduction to the book: "One of my delights in these books ... has been to include movies not often cited as 'great' ... We go to different movies for different reasons, and greatness comes in many forms."

A ranked list of 100 best films chosen by Finnish film critic Helena Ylänen among all the films that that she reviewed in the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat during years 1977-2004. The list was published in her Finnish language book "Sata parasta elokuvaa (ja kymmenen kehnoa kaupan päälle)" in 2005 (edited by Kati Sinisalo), which includes her original reviews of the films. In addition, the book contains ten reviews of films which Ylänen didn't like. They're in chronological order (ranks 101-110).

    Robert Bloom's The Greatest Films of 1923 - 2009

    Favs/dislikes: 3:0. Robert Bloom is the retired Deputy Administrative Assistant to the Supreme Judicial Court Justices, and a life-long lover of the silver screen. He is himself a movie maker, having co-written with William Rose (attorney and former consultant to the Supreme Judicial Court) and co-starred with Jay Blitzman (now associate justice of the Juvenile Court) in the film, Not Manhattan. The film debuted in 1981 in Cambridge at the Off-The-Wall Cinema and was awarded a prize that same year by the Houston Film Festival. Bloom is also an author, his latest novel being A Generation of Leaves published in 1991 by Ballantine Books. He is a book critic as well whose reviews have appeared in the Chicago Tribune and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
