FOK! Schaduw Top 250
Favs/dislikes: 41:2. Companion list to the official FOK! Top 250. This list is compiled from a subset of the lists submitted to the yearly election for the FOK! Film Top 100. The list favors older movies and is compiled as a stimulus to watch these over the next big Hollywood thing. All previous versions of the list since 2003 are available to paying users by selecting the previous version button. Empire Masterpieces
Favs/dislikes: 32:0. Each issue of the Empire magazine since #167 features a two-page essay on a film deemed a masterpiece by the magazine. These are all the films featured in this feature in order of appearance. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is regarded as one entry in the official numbering. -
The Empire Five-Star 500
Favs/dislikes: 28:0. Empire Magazine has compiled a list of the 500 greatest movies they have ever given a five-star review. * The Apu-trilogy is counted as a single entry in the magazine, thus 502 movies on this list. -
Frank Darabont's Greatest Movies of All Time
Favs/dislikes: 26:2. The Empire Magazine asked Frank Darabont to write about his one movie masterpiece. Instead he chose 224. Two remarks about his selection: 1. What follows is not to be confused with a 'best' list. I hate 'best' lists. They are compiled by arrogant fools for the satisfaction of provoking other arrogant fools into spewing angry rebuttals, and before you know it everybody's all puffed-up and dancing around like mountain apes. Stop it, really. Just because I have my favorites, it doesn't mean I think yours suck. I offer my list as highly subjective opinion, not empirically provable fact. If you disagree with it, don't freak out. Instead, be constructive and send me your list so I can fill some of the gaps in my film education. 2. Films are not listed in order of preference, and my genre headings are loose definitions at best. Yes, I'm painfully aware that The Godfather could just as well be listed under 'drama' as 'gangster film'. Yes, Rollerball might be deemed 'science-fiction' rather than 'sports'. FOK! Tournament Winners of Each Year
Favs/dislikes: 23:0. At the FOK! board we have a knock-out tournament for each year. These are the winners of these tournaments. The contestants of the tournaments since 2001 are films released in The Netherlands in that calendar year. For the older tournaments movies classified on IMDb-year. For the 1986 tournament both Platoon and Aliens won. Note that not all years have been held. We are still in progress. -
Zatoichi - Complete Filmography
Favs/dislikes: 18:0. All movies/series with Zatôichi, the famous blind samurai in the lead. It includes the original 26 movies, the following tv-series, the Kitano remake/tribute and the latest reboot attempt. I decided to leave out the American remake Blind Fury (1989). -

Canon of Dutch Cinema
Favs/dislikes: 9:0. In 2007 a committee of 8 members of the Dutch film world, compiled a canon of Dutch cinema. Their task was to put together a list of movies capturing the versatility of the Dutch cinema Not necessarily a list of 'best' Dutch films, but more a list of 'most important' Dutch films. It includes early examples of Dutch film, the first Dutch sound movie, short documentaries, animated shorts, popular films and youth films among others. -
Best Dutch Film of the Century
Favs/dislikes: 8:0. In 1999 the Dutch Film Festival organized the election of the Best Dutch Movie of the Century. Everyone could vote for their top 3 Dutch movies. This list includes the top 50 (actually top 51, since the last 2 movies received the same amount of votes). Gorro's Personal Top 1000
Favs/dislikes: 8:3. My own personal Top 1000. Except for the first few places, the order is subject to change, depending on mood. I update the list typically once a year shortly after New Year. -
YMDB.com Top 474
Favs/dislikes: 8:0. YMDB.com used to be a site where you could setup and compare your own movie top 20. The site is no more, but thanks to the internet archive of the WaybackMachine a snapshot of the site is still available (see source url). There are two nearly complete snapshots available from januari and november of 2006. At the time between 25000 and 32863 users compiled a top 20. This top 474 is a complete as possible reconstruction of the list. After this position not all pages are available. -
