Since 1990, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has presented the GLAAD Media Awards to recognize and honor various branches of the media for their outstanding representations of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities and the issues that affect their lives.
