Jeeze, this was pretty bad. I can enjoy a fun mindless action movie, but this just didn't do anything right. Bland uninteresting characters, lame action scenes, and way too much boring backstory development that failed to get me invested in any way.

Cool poster, cool purple color on title letters and cool introduction ... The movie itself is a big mess. Cheap low-calorie entertainment on a Friday night, but it's really too easy to get away with Mr Snyder. Thin and almost non-existent plot.

Why have a Father / Daughter relationship when you are not using it for anything, I did not feel it and the actors did not at all. It just extended the movie with a really awkward "you were not there dad" scene.

Way too long for my taste, with a sloooow pacing at times. The father - daughter relationship was hugely irrelevant for me and added nothing but minutes to the movie. Some good action, but the initial credits promised something that I did not see... 5/10 just because Batista is there...

Written by an 8 year old Zack Snyder who decided to play zombies with his friends after seeing night of the living dead for the first time.

Awful.

Why can't anyone make a good zombie movie that isn't riddled with plot holes and dependent on laughably stupid character decisions to drive the story.

There's also something very bizarre about the glowing reviews this has received.

Can't say I ever expected "zombie bank heist" to be three words ever strung together so I guess the film gets credit for that. Oh, and zombie warlords, that's also a new one for me. Kind of fun to watch in a popcorn-y way if zombie films are your thing. Doesn't exactly play by the traditional undead archetypes and that steers it clear of generic zombie fare.

Disappointing. But then that probably will be on Zack Snyder's tombstone.

These days I'm already happy when a Netflix film doesn't suck, and Army of the Dead was .. alright, almost. Be advised that this isn't mainly a scary horror film, but a dystopic heist action thriller with zombies for adrenaline and some amusement (have these been done before)? What baffles me the most is how the thing left an editing room with 2:28h. Just why? According to IMDb, it's the third longest horror genre entry of all time. That's not warranted, although I didn't bore out as with that other recent Zack Snyder flick.

On the plus side: gritty, dusty and bleached out look in the outside of wasted Las Vegas. Some dynamic (or antsy) camerawork, many times losing focus and definition. For a streaming movie which is allowed for 16-year-olds in Germany it's gorier than expected, the effects look good. No nonsense mostly. Zombie tiger.
Negative: dull casting overall (although I might watch out for Ella Purnell in the future). I don't see Dave Bautista as a leadman, even for an action-film, nope. Germany's box office star Matthias Schweighöfer is annoying. The use of cover pop & rock songs sucked and culminated in the bad intro with a never-ending interpretation of "Viva Las Vegas". Ugh, spare me that. Actually all of the figures are forgettable and there's not much plot to care about .. I'll just admit that I watch these films more for effects and scenery than for that.

PSA: There seems to be an issue with a dead pixel in the film itself. oO
If you're wondering about that during your watch - I had to - it's not your TV, it's the damn source! They have a budget of 70-90 million and could reshoot every scene of Chris D'Elia, but didn't take care of that? Huh.
