Lacks the visual panache I expect from Wise or for that matter Noir in general. What's even worse is the writing--this is filled with awful characters whose motivation doesn't make sense and the dialogue is particularly bad, especially the Bible quoting detective. 3/10
I really loved this one. It's more like an over the top melodrama than a typical noir. Pretty much all of the main characters are intensely dislikable, and even when they seem to be good people they end up saying or doing awfully cruel things to each other, so It's easy to see why it didn't do well at the box office. But it's for exactly these reasons I found the film highly entertaining.
