Really good fun. Great effects for the 80s and a few genuinely scary jumps. Like Freddy Krueger in the Elm Street sequels though, Chucky is much scarier when he's cracking skulls rather than cracking jokes.
Still some pretty good animatronics in this flick. With the various approaches the people involved took to make Chuckie realistic, this film holds up pretty well.
Its definitely 80's to the max though, with bad 80's hair and everything.
Maybe the little Abigail Breslin in Signs is the only competence, but this is the sweetest kid in a horror movie, you even want to protect him from the devil doll. Same experience in Child's play 2.
