A Diary of Chuji's Travels is a silent Japanese jidaigeki made in 1927 starring Denjiro Okochi and directed by Daisuke Ito. It was originally released in three parts, all of which were long thought to be lost until portions of the second part and much of the third part were discovered and restored in 1991.Relevance and History of the Movie:
"...the devastating Kanto earthquake of
1923 proved a turning point in terms of industrial organisation and film output.
Companies such as Nikkatsu moved their operations to the ancient capital
of Kyoto and, given the abundance of historical locations, naturally specialised
in jidai-geki. The chanbara or kengeki eiga (swordfighting film) began to innovate
during these years with an increased emphasis on a more dynamic visual style in
films such as Ito Daisuke’s A Diary of Chuji’s Travels (Chu ¯ ji tabi nikki, 1927)"

Does anyone know where can i find this film ?idjutt
To answer my own question: Goyo hen and Shinshu kessho hen are the two parts the restored version consists of. The Koshu tate hen is considered lost.idjutt
Is this the 100 minute version or is it the first segment of the movie that is now considered lost?? Imdb don't provide useful answers hereGershwin
Can't find it anywhere...Limbesdautomne
A grimacing hero carried on a stretcher... The only film available of the trilogy is not a very good watch.Ito's Zanjin zanbaken (1929) is better and complete.
