Stunning, and emotionally oppressive and incredibly haunting by the end.Bjork is easily one of the most talented musical artists today with such a strong voice and wide vocal range. Maybe you'll come to enjoy her some day. I sure did.

Really hard to watch for those who don't like sad stories and injustice. Beautiful sad story, great acting especially from Bjork that fits perfectly with the character. Different indeed but different is good.Her life is tough, but she survives because she has a secret. When things become too difficult, she pretends she's in a musical just for a minute or two.
All the joy that life can't give her that's where she finds.
But joy ain't life, the joy is there so we can bear life.

I've just seen several of von Trier's films this last week... I think I need a month just to recover now. I find his movies very powerful, and this is no exception.I was also joyed to see that Björk was both playing and making music. I had no idea what movie this was when I started watching, and seeing one of my favourite artists popping up on screen was pleasant. (to my ears too).
It does seem a bit amateurish in the way it is filmed, but it's okay.

Stunned. just finished watching it. I hate Bjorks music and still don't really enjoy her voice/style, but Dancer in the Dark is amazing, and so is her acting. Utterly captivating.The ending completely shattered me, so powerful.
