The dialogue made me cringe multiple times.
Naomi Watts didn't do bad at all but was given some pretty terrible material to work with and wasn't directed very well. 10 years 7 months ago -

pretty meh -- Watts and Andrews are fine, but the writing, UGH! Pretty sappy at times and not worthy of Diana. Much less compelling that the more recent Spencer which works very well as a character study. Yes, maybe we 'get' why she did what she did and why her life ended the way it did, but instead of inspiring, this is more like a made-for-TV romance that can't even jerk a tear out of the weepiest audience member, not me, mind. My eyes stayed painfully dry the entire time. If it hadn't been a biopic, no one would have been interested in the story even though they could have made something way more compelling by going completely fictional and telling the story of young heiress who loses her way in life.
Also, I just never was able to forget I was watching Watts act. Yes, at times she sort of channeled Diana. I wonder if she's just too well known to be able to fit into someone else's dresses. It's not meant to say she did a crappy job acting on this one, but I just never forgot it was an acting job. 1 year 11 months ago -

Poor editing and directing.. the story of the princess is interesting but it didn't feel that way in the movie. Still not as bad as I expected. Loved Naomi. 10 years 3 months ago
