We take their children, we take their freedom, we take their lives, sending them healthy and whole to a slaughterhouse to come out as package pieces on the other side, and we tell ourselves that somehow along the way something humane and ethical happened.
Dominion shows us, with vast amounts of footage from farms, slaughterhouses, animal testing facilities and other places, how humans exploit, confine, abuse and kill animals to make a profit. The makers could have singled out a few people who abuse animals on camera. By not doing so - and instead showing tons of examples of abuse with various animals at various locations - they make it clear that these are not isolated cases.
We see how pigs are being confined in tiny metal cages. We see how chicks fall down from an assembly line into a mincer. We see how ducks collapse under their own body weight, unable to swim because there is no water. We see how minks go crazy in their wire cages. All because there's a profit to be made. Because humans continue to buy the end products.
Dominion is not an easy watch, but it is a must-watch.
The as fast as possible return on investment is the most important objective of today society where not even the holy cows in India are spared. Violence of humans to other species are only means to this objective.
