I haven't seen this one either, but it did garner some pretty good reviews when it was shown at Cannes.

"You could see it at the Cannes and the Locarno Film Festivals, pricks. "

It doesn't change the fact though that an instant rise of a not-theatrically-released film stinks from fanboy reaction and that for me is pretty immature, even when we're talking about a website like IMDB. Sure, I'd love to see Drive as well but I doubt all those voters considered it the "bestest thing of their life" because that's my personal assessment of such voting numbers.

olem92, each category has a different number of required votes. For Action, it's 1,000. For Comedy, it's 5,000. For Film-Noir, it's only 200. From what I gather, these minimums change over time depending on how many films and votes exist in each category. However, it may also depend on the ratio of votes-per-film, as Drama, which should theoretically be the widest of categories, only requires 1,000 as of now.

With its emasculated wheel rims and its storytelling in engine braking, we drive from an expected blurred Vanishing Point to a sleeping Tony Scott film.

The film is beautiful to look at, but it never 'hooked' me. This distance made me far more critical of it than I probably would have been watching it in the cinema. I appreciated the mood, but found Gosling acting style a little off in such a naturalistic diegisis. From the start, the trope of the boy needing a father figure annoyed me simply because they made it so obvious, and I wish the mother had been given a more interesting storyline. I was also little impressed by the cliché scene of half naked women, where Gosling is basically framed by boobs and awkward ladies. We get that the guys are assholes, why do filmmakers always think it's necessary to put them in situations with exploited women to prove it? Oh right, they want use the female body to attract more male audiences. My bad.

I was otherwise entertained by the film and I'm glad I've seen it, even if it didn't meet my expectations.

If only Bryan Cranston could have popped on a fedora, called himself 'Heisenberg' and driven me right out of this movie to the nearest motorhome in the desert so I could do some meth to forget how much this movie DRIVEd me crazy....did I say I didn't like it?....yeah, pretty much...Breaking Bad is how modern neo-noir should be done...not this DRIVEL

totally overrated. An action flick trying to be serious, with a cheesy love plot to boot

Overrated! As Wikipedia puts it: "a bizarre concoction...reminiscent of David Lynch's Mulholland Drive...Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, and [with] angst-laden love scenes that would not be out of place in a Scandinavian drama"

Bad thing about this movie is not that its slow or boring but it had no substance. Just pretentious and over-hyped movie.

I didn't like it. Funny thing is that in my opinion the music kills the movie. And a lot of guys here said they loved the soundtrack. How come?

every detail of this movie is beautifully and meticulously presented, but it still manages to be surprising, especially in the subtle love story between Gosling and Mulligan; A+++ movie!
