Mel Gibson is the star here and pulls off a rather good good-guy in this decent justice/vengeance story. His anguish is quite palpable. Nearly crushed with grief, he digs deep and tries to keep himself composed enough to find out the truth. Struggling with reality while grasping for straws.
This movie is more drama than action, and it works well. An interesting story and solid acting is not something you can expect every time from Hollywood.
Director Martin Campbell actually directed the original TV miniseries from 1985. No doubt he is a huge reason why this movie turned out well.
