If all copies are lost, and when this site is about completing lists. Would it not be more correct to mention the film in the heading, and remove it from the list?

I agree with gulliver. Just remove the movie from the list and mention it in the heading. That way we'll be able to complete the list too.

If no one's seen it, how do(es) whoever filled in this list know if this belongs in top 100?

Lost films should be removed from official lists and put in the description. It's a real buzzkill to not be able to complete BFI's animated films list.

It's weirder imo to find out 5 people actually CHECKED this LOST film! Do they possess a time machine? What gives?

I guess they should introduce some system to just block checking on these lost movies (keep they completely grey) and remove these from the official lists.

From the BFI-website:
Blending in-depth history and criticism, this book balances the commercial blockbusters with local success stories from Eastern Europe to Hong Kong. There are entries on Dreamworks' Shrek, Pixar's Toy Story, and Disney's Jungle Book, but you will also find pieces on Germany's silhouette-based The Adventures of Prince Achmed, the oldest surviving animated feature; on the thirty year production of Richard Williams' legendary opus, The Thief and the Cobbler; and on the lost work of Argentina's Quinto Cristiani, who reputedly made the first animated feature in 1917.
Note: It should be Quirino Christiani, sloppy work by the BFI website!

I will just mark this checked for now, until iCheckMovies has the time to remove it again...
