It's a black and white indie film by Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig. You probably have an idea of what that means, in which case this movie has 0 surprises for you.

That being said, it's a black and white indie by Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig. It's a nice relaxing watch. You just kind of watch this stereotype of a starving artist in NYC make her way through different circles of friends, gaining and losing people along the way. I just had it on the background while working and it was perfect for that.

the main character had all the traits of lena dunham from girls but i didn't hate her so much. perhaps it's because lena dunham just sucks.
this flick was good though, especially liked the dialogue which kept itself fresh throughout. didn't quite get why the B&W aspect was necessary but hey - it's artsy and hip

absolute favorite. love the nostalgic vibe and indie feeling in this film. it crazily reminds me of my bestfriend, which makes me realize that sometime there are relationships in your life that needs to grow apart so you can see where you can be and come to yourself as a whole.

Very endearing, I loved how each 'chapter' was titled by locations

Indie hipster bagatelle – funny and touching, could have been in the book.

Enjoyable. Good if you like your indies. Got a little confused by the time jumps. Some scenes were a little too close to home as a 27 year old and some cringe moments but otherwise nice. Just... "nice."

Prefer "Girls".

This is one of the 21st Century's most acclaimed films? May God help us all.

I'm unsure as to whether this was a serious movie or a satire of the failure-to-launch archetype. Either way I think it was great and Greta Gerwig was perfect as the dramatized female version of myself. The Criterion Collection extra on the look of the film really increased my appreciation of it.

I did not find any of the characters to be particularly innovative or interesting- they ARE a bunch of spoiled art snobs, but that's not a reason to hate the film, I think. I just didn't see much going on. It didn't go beyond anything I expected it to- it remained in the cute indie film realm and didn't venture very far out of it.

I understand it tries to be a satire but it ends up being just like characters in the film. Insecure.
