The segment from The Summer Brothers Smothers Show is not lost to everyone so it may appear online one day.

Wow. So much human endeavor distilled down into three-minutes of utter beauty made me want to cry. It was inspiring if heavily weighted in favor of European arts (though I did see some East Asian, mainly Japanese, paintings as well as proto-European art). But I still give it a beautiful thumbs up!

Edit: Just not a check. Okay, I went back and reread the Vimeo description much more closely and no longer believe this to be the same movie. The implication is it does still exist but copyright issues block its release. Additionally, the original was to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony so I'd say the Vimeo link is to a different film - not different enough though that the powers that be have blocked it in the US (unless you have a work around).

Hmmm, define original - which version of Blade Runner earns a check? I've seen them all - should I get multiple checks? NO? Well I think IMDb (which our database works off of) should include each and every one and list authors should be required to specifiy. While I can't think of names off the top of my head, I know a number of Criterion Collection and other arthouse DVDs are restorations of films that may include sections cobbled together from here and there. I've seen at least one, that in an attempt to return the film to it's "original state", included still photos along with the existing sound track for footage that was destroyed after being edited to please someone. Maybe we should disallow any viewing online, on DVD, on VHS, etc unless that is the original media the film was created in as well. Can anyone spell pedantic? (Besides me?)

EDIT 20161009: someone kindly shared the original with me - check earned ;)

I checked it and then unchecked. I'd feel happier about checking it for the Classical Gas Video as although created from the original student video (i.e. God is Dog Spelled Backwards) it is "nearly identical to the actual video that aired on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1968" (i.e. the Classical Gas Video).
All that said, the vimeo video is well worth watching even if you can't check it off on ICM afterwards :-)

Well, the link is for the original and not the remake. It's as simple as that.

Now if only there were an iCheckFineArt, just think how many checks you could get for watching this. ;-)

As art short films go, this one was actually pretty cool seeing all that art in such a small time. Makes you not want to blink, plus nice music to accompany it.

Hmm, I wonder how much 40 years distorted his memory of the film. I assume it is close enough for a check... Especially since it sounds like it will be impossible for anyone to ever see the original anyway. I'll hold off on checking it though.

Local is correct and whoever has checked it should immediately uncheck it but I presume anyone has the right to do what they wish to, I for myself will follow my conscience and as with many unsubtitled films, I'll wait for the original copy to surface somewhere...unless of course a link DOES exist somewhere and I haven't noticed.
