So it IS possible to make a decent, heartwarming romantic comedy without a single cliche. And it still feels fresh and original 40 years later - well, except for the haircuts.. those are the worst, an absolute nightmare.
For 1980, this film is very realistic about how a school should react to a girl joining a soccer team. No uproar from fellow students or parents, I'm glad I stumbled onto this film.
Nice, has some cute scenes invoving Gregory and his little sister. :)
Not a perfect movie, but more enjoyable compared to other early 80's teen romcom's. 6.5/10
Having played football for most of my life, the football scenes really put me off. It was quite clear that the female player did not have any notable technique. I know, I know! It's just a movie. But these scenes were given a certain significance throughout the film, so they could at least have made them somewhat believable.
