   Much better the second time round. Shinkai is going to be a master of anime when Miyazaki and his generation have passed on.
   
   The animation is in some ways better than Ghibli, definitely influenced by it. Towards the end, the similarities to Earthsea are glaringly obvious.
   
   The story and music are unbelievably emotive and the message hit me hard. It's a beautiful film and one that will provide meaning when the time comes when you are going through what the characters on screen are going through. 11 years ago

   Am I the only one who'd like to know the repercussions of both characters' absence to the real world duties? C'mon, a teacher and student missing? Hello?
