One of the running themes in this movie is James Baldwin’s perspective on the films of his youth and the Civil Rights era. I made a list of all the films referenced in this movie which can be found here: https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/movies+referenced+in+the+film+i+am+not+your+negro/beasterne/ 5 years 5 months ago -

A poignant film that juxtaposes Baldwin's speeches and words during the civil rights era with current events. Not so much a straightforward documentary, but more of one man's perspective of race relations in America. Not a great primer for films on the civil rights era, but a good companion to other more traditional films about the topic. 6 years 4 months ago
