One of the most beautifully shot films I've seen lately. Still not sure what to make of the plot. It's very simple on paper, and even on screen, and yet...
An achingly beautiful, mind-bending, existential quest film/acid western set in 19th century Argentina. It certainly won't be for everyone (very slow, very weird) but there's no denying that it's one of a kind. I loved it.
I watched this as I've always been a fan of Viggo Mortensen and I liked Alonso's earlier work, Los Muertos. I'm not sure what to make of this movie, yes it looks pretty but the end was just weird and in a way nothing much happens during most of it. Can't say I enjoyed it very much. I did like that it was almost like a silent film but it should've had more of a plot in my opinion.
