Actually the last 20-30 minutes make up for the admittedly slow build-up. Melodrama done right.
Watching this film was an absolute joy. The very definition of a cinematic masterpiece. It's not hard to see why Indian cinema was among the best in the world during the 1950s and 60s.
Glad someone enjoyed it because I felt like it lasted forever. Characters were irritating, music bad & everything overly dramatized.
