A majestic mountain of unbelievable shit.

You could never make something this bad if you tried to, but our man PWSA delivers again and again. Aside from a few cool things like some of the stunts, the tanks, the burning of the building and revisiting the ol' laser hall... it's just pure excrement in every regard.

Wesker looks like he was made with crappy CGI... holy crap. There are soo many tropes in this stinker you'd never be able count them all. To name a few...
48 hour deadline. Looking at the countdown timer exactly when the seconds move from 00 to 59. Jump scares. Taking a beating then laughing before killing your assailants. Saying things like 'running out of time', 'got to hurry' yet often taking the time to stand around and stare until something attacks. Running from countless zombies who magically disappear whenever. Dragons.

I've seen all the movies including the animated ones and played several of the games. After yet another catastrophic movie, even I can't understand why anymore. It feels like it's way overdue to retire the franchise.

Absolutely not recommended.

The first two movies of this franchise are the only ones you have to see, all the other abominations (including this one) just skip them. How can you enjoy this movie/"final chapter" when right out of the bat it destroys any and all franchise History with this:

At the beginning of the movie, Alice gives a history of the Umbrella Corporation. She says that the T-Virus was created by a Dr. Marcus for his daughter Alicia to prevent her rapid aging. This completely contradicts the story of Resident Evil: Apocalypse as this movie establishes the T-Virus as being created by Dr. Ashford for his daughter Angie.

This is a huge plot hole, the size of Texas. And they are a lot of them, like Alice loses her senses a couple of times for long period of time, and no zombie(s) chow down on her? 10 years after the ZA and she finds a car that works? With a huge Solar Panel on the roof! It's a Solar Panel right? Why do the Cerberus stop at the entrance of the Hive? Alice tells us that "maybe they are afraid of what's inside" And what is inside exactly? Well just a big nothing at all! A lame zombie or two, some bobby traps here and there (just wen the movie plot calls for them) and nothing else! What happened to all the Bio Weapons/experiments/toys etc we saw Umbrella has down there? And what happened to the little Black boy? Did I miss his dead?

I've never written a comment on icheckmovies, and I've checked 953 movies, but I felt that this should be commented.

Someone here wrote that the history of the franchise was destroyed by this, but he explained just a start:

"Alice gives a history of the Umbrella Corporation. She says that the T-Virus was created by a Dr. Marcus for his daughter Alicia to prevent her rapid aging. This completely contradicts the story of Resident Evil: Apocalypse as this movie establishes the T-Virus as being created by Dr. Ashford for his daughter Angie."

But, let's continue:
- the two doctors (Marcus/Ashford and Isaacs) that were just normal employees before, are now "the founders of the corporation"
- the Red Queen computer now "can't hurt an employee of Umbrella", but killed everyone in the Hive in the first movie
- also, the Red Queen "values human life" now and wants to prevent "the last of the people getting killed", and she has thousends of people hidden in the Hive.
- Wesker was unbeatable in Afterlife (2010) - survived million bullets in his head and body; and Retribution (2012), but now dies of a cut leg - not so fast now, heh?.
- Wesker was the Chairman of Umbrella and above Isaacs in Afterlife, and now Isaacs is the founder xd
- Wesker brought Alice in for help in Retribution at the end, and what's up with that now?

I just want to say that I don't understand why they changed the history to get a new plot which is really really bad. I would have loved the movie if they just continued from the Retribution, where Wesker and Alice would fight together against zombies, defeated them, Wesker would then betray Alice, she would kill him, and that would be a solid movie. This is just sad what they did.

For the end, since we decided for this stupid plot, Wesker could have had the enterance to the hive closed by 10-meter doors before the intruders entered, and ended the whole movie there.

The worst of the franchise, hands down.

There's literally no buildup to anything that happens in the movie, they just cut to the next scene and it's happening. The fight scenes are horribly cut, the worst I've ever come across. Literally seven different 0.3 second cuts for a guy jumping off a tank? Give me a break. It's fast enough to make you nauseous.

One critic wrote, "...for fans of the venerable franchise, it offers a fittingly kinetic conclusion to its violent post-apocalyptic saga."

Umm, what? No continuity with the rest of the franchise, pathetic action scenes, close to zero plot... c'mon man.

I enjoyed the others in the series but this was so disappointing. It was my first movie I got to see in RPX and it was a huge waste of money. The camera was so shaky the entire time and made it near impossible to see anything that was going on, also completely ruining the 3D. I don't recall a single good shot in 3D in the entire film in theater.

Then, there was the fact that this movie completely destroyed anything that happened in the previous 5 movies. All of the back story built up across the previous movies was ruined and completely thrown out the window like it never happened. Too many major events were changed.

If you were a fan of the others in the series, don't waste your time on this one. Just say the 5th one was the final movie and a sequel to finish the story off was never made, because technically a real sequel to complete the plot has not been made.

It's Last Chance High for Resident Evil, using The Final Chapter to finally create a background for the Umbrella Corporation, the T-virus, and Alice herself. Well, better late than never. Her return to the Hive in Raccoon City is pretty exciting, though there is a point there, in the dark, where I couldn't tell what was happening or care about who was dying. It's better than the bad chapters, not as good as the best ones, a fair finish that wins the day by belatedly doing some world building. Some good action sequences (for non-epileptics anyway), especially early on, but in the end, just okay. It's just marred by too many problems to get a better report from me. The insane cliffhanger from the previous film is ignored with a few lines of dialog covering what might have been its own film (were they forced to skip to the end?). The action is frenetically edited within an inch of its life. The countdown to humanity's extinction is complete nonsense, though it might an acceptable use of a trope if they didn't return to it so frequently. And the ending lacks the epic grandeur the film promises, while also being a bit of a cop-out.
