Brilliant. Frank Langella delivers again. Plenty of recognizable people in the movie, Jeremy Sisto was underused though.
Highly recommended!

Robot & Frank is set in the near future - and a very believably imagined future at that - where a former cat burglar now suffering from memory loss and dementia (the always awesome Frank Langella) is saddled with a caretaker robot (voiced by Peter Sarsgaard) by his son whose trying to do the right thing. Frank hates the idea, but makes it work by teaching the 'bot his old stock and trade as a "hobby". The DVD cover makes it look a bit syrupy, but it really isn't, getting, I think, the balance of comedy, drama and sentiment just right. James Marsden, Jeremy Sisto, Liv Tyler and Susan Sarandon co-star, not a bad note uttered between them. An odd little film worth discovering.

Very cute and fun sci-fi buddy dramedy. Langella stole the show with his great performance. See it!

Wonderful tone, although a bit too flat on the secondary characters and plot. Langella is great though, you have to like the robot and the sentimentality just fits :)

Fantastic for what it was. Nearly as good as a movie of this size/genre can be, having avoided the three common pitfalls of being overly pretentious, over-the-top cute/zany, or too saccharine (though it does push it a bit in this last regard).

I especially enjoyed all the near-future gadgetry/design elements and how they were juxtaposed against the very natural setting of Cold Spring, NY (one of my favorite small towns in the U.S.).

I counted two moments of genuine laugh out loud hilarity, and a dozen decent chuckles otherwise. Despite the awkward ending, I really loved this one.
