An important topic to make a movie about, this one however comes up short in its execution.
Between strangely sudden shifts in tone and dull acting, I had a problem with the slow pacing in the first half or so.
Overall it feels more like a stage play - it might even work better in that form.

Imagine a stage play in the style of Adam McKay’s “The Big Short” or “Vice” and you’ll get a pretty good understanding of “The Laundromat”. While not perfect, the A-List cast keeps the movie moving and feeling fresh. It has a number of subplots that seem irrelevant, and it doesn’t really maintain its conceit of showing the insider secrets. Nonetheless, it’s pleasantly enjoyable despite being a little underbaked and not entirely clear. The final shot is ridiculous. Still, I liked it well enough.

A better version is "The Panama Papers" documentary by Alex Winters.

Shockingly boring movie about one of the most exciting groundbreaking revelations this decade. 4 years 6 months ago
