Great film, characters, acting. Editing terrible cuts. The last act drags and is unnecessary

If you get over the prosaic dialogs and unrefined acting by most, it's a decent film.

Penn's Billy isn't Peckinpah's Billy, although their faces might display slight similarities. Newman here is more of a man and less of a boy than Kristofferson. However, that fact does not restrict Newman of being passionate and for that matter, foolish, childish. Yet I would re-watch none of these two movies because of the "feeling of something dying after telling about that something", it has no life, it just stays on the screen there with its morals/
