I was expecting to really enjoy this but instead found it to be a stunningly average film. To make a movie for kids but also be able to capture the attention and interest of an adult watching can be tricky and I don't think it accomplished that for me. Clichés abound and the animation was the only thing it has going for it. Throughout the entire runtime it felt incredibly amateur with the story and the humor in particular. Fairly disappointed.

Big budget animation films suffer a bit with “the message”, but this one is nice and whimsical enough to touch a few heartstrings. Voice acting is ace.

I could never warm up to animated movies .. even the highly appreciated Inside Out didn't impress me much .. But, I loveeeed Lego Movie .. Dialogues and the humor makes such a huge difference to a movie .. It needn't be an out of the box story , but , presentation matters ..

Great film, loved the appearances of the multiple characters and the witty dialogues with so many great references. Hats off to the animation and detailing in the scenes.

The fact that this isn't on any official animation list yet is a great tragedy

I know it's called The LEGO Movie but I couldn't get past the blatant advertising.

I believe my reaction should include the word "awesome". Consider it included. What a fun, clever, and even a little poignant, little film! Not only does it use the LEGO's realities to create its world (thematic sets, generic faces and objects, build/unbuild, etc.), but it also uses the competing philosophies of the product's consumers. Are you one of those who follows the instructions to complete a predetermined "model"? Or do you mix all your blocks up and let your imagination run free? Throw in some great voice work, the best Batman we've gotten since Brave & the Bold, and a high repeat watching value because there's lots of background gags to discover, and you've got a movie that demands you put away your cynicism about it being a long toy ad. I mean, yes, it's likely to make someone want to invest in LEGO blocks, sets and video games, but it really work as an amusing and heartfelt Messianic comedy with loads of eye-popping sights and action.

I couldn't get through 10 minutes of this movie. Loved Legos growing up, but this movie was an assault on my senses. Like having my eye sockets forcibly fingerbanged by a frenetic rainbow.

I'm guessing, the nostalgia of having played with Lego Sets, is essential to enjoy this movie. I've never had a Lego Set. So, apart from a few funny bits here and there, I found this movie to be quite average.

Original, colorful and very funny, The Lego Movie is one of the strongest movies coming out of 2014 for both children and adults. It is fast-paced and driven forward by nostalgia, vivid characters and spectacular, impressive animation. It does however feel a bit empty near the end where I could not stop myself from thinking that it is basically a long and expensive toy commercial.
