Probably best known as the film that features a flashback-within-a-flashback-within-a-flashback, it's a bit slow and overly melodramatic, but still a decent mystery/noir. Laraine Day is beautiful, and does a terrific job as "the woman with a mysterious past."
This film features two strong elements, that of great characters and a good story. All three of the leads give great performances, which leaves me surprised that I haven't heard of Laraine Day before. Mitchum is going to be good in a cereal commercial so that wasn't much of a surprise, but it was very appreciated. The story was good, but the ending is a bit predictable as the evidence begins to mount. I suppose that is the way it goes sometimes...
