There was many a time where I would pause the movie, go on Spotify, find out what the name of the track was, and subsequently add it to my playlist. This film was engaging but the soundtrack was a defining feature and really helps you become immersed in the climate of the movie.
Why didn't Mendoza organize the indians to fight the invaders from the top of the steep cliff? It would be impossible for the Portugese to get up there while somebody throws rocks and shoots arrows. He just ignored all his strategic advantages. That seemed incredibly inplausible to me. But he was not the only one being incredibly stupid. The Portugese brought cannons.......to a jungle fight......knowing perfectly well that they would have to haul those cannons up a gigantic steep cliff...... and push them through a dense and hostile jungle environment..... just to fire off a couple of rounds on an already burning village.

One of the most beautiful films I've ever seen and the Ennio Morricone score is just astounding. That being said the story doesn't really live up to the technical excellence.
