One of the best uses of autumn colors I've seen in cinema.

As allways Hitchcock has a strong finale, but to me the first half was surely not his finest hour. The development was rather slow and the dialogue was just not good and really far from funny. The pace and thrill is much better in the last 30 minutes of the film, the script is tighter and even becomes funny. But not to be included in my top 15 of his best

This is a black comedy where country zanies trip over a dead body without ever showing any feeling for the man. It's Hitchcock does Weekend at Bernie's. I'm not going to do the disservice of comparing it to Hitchcock's suspense thrillers, even if there's an element of the macabre which we could compare to, say, Rope's. I will critique it for what it is, i.e. a comedy. And as a comedy, I do like it. It's absurdist to be sure, has clever dialog and some amusing misunderstandings. It's entirely pleasant despite its leisurely first half, especially once Shirley McClane (her first film role) is on screen more than a moment, but I don't think I like the ending. It feels like we get a recap for no other reason than to explain the plot to those people who are always getting up to go to the bathroom, and then there's a rather annoying continuity flub in the last shot. Flawed, but not unentertaining.

A great, surprising film by the master of suspense. This is a more comedic film than his other work, though there is some good suspense near the end. The cinematography is beautiful and the situations the characters get in are funny, as is most of the dialogue. Really entertaining to watch, and it was refreshing to see Hitchcock try something different.

I agree with the complainants below me (except I thought Shirley MacLaine suffered from bad acting in parts, too). Yet despite this, and despite being pretty unfunny for an American audience, it did have its moments. The photography, for one thing, was simply gorgeous.

i was shocked at how bad the first half was due to some dodgy acting and dialogue but i really enjoyed the rest a very engaging story!

Some people seem to love it, including Hitch himself apparently, but for me the trouble with 'The Trouble With Harry' is - it's just not funny. Slow pacing and the dull smart-alecky dialogue left me cold. Shirley MacClaine is attractive and natural in her first role, but she's the only light touch in a otherwise unfortunately lumpen experience.
