“Well done, Togo! Well done, all!"

Willem Dafoe delivers as always! And for a Disney produced live action movie this was not half bad, and the story of Togo is really heart warming.

What a lovely film.
The cinematography was superb, with great acting from Willem Dafoe.
I cannot believe that this film has not made it into any of the checklists.

Cool, they named a film after me!

.. Yep, it is rather plain. It's an alright movie and Dafoe is a great fit for the role, yet I will never understand how Togo got to 8.0 at 37k votes on IMDb. So many dog lovers around, huh?
And, you know, using Max Richter's most powerful song for your sad final movie scene will definitely always work (it also did in Arrival), but it feels a bit cheap, doesn't it? Every viewer will melt to tears by that soundtrack, with any film, come on!

I am a total sucker for dog movies. As much as I want to pretend I am some kind of cultured film connoisseur, I think I might love dogs more than any movie. And that rousing Henry V speech Willem Dafoe gives while crossing the sound while the ice cracks! So awesome!

I liked this movie overall I guess, it certainly told an interesting story, the acting performances were good, and hey, everyone loves dogs, but how they pumped up the action sequences to such a ridiculously absurd degree took me out of it. It's a true story, just telling it in a realistic matter would be good enough without all the super fake looking CGI shots of zooming down 45 degree plus mountain cliffs and that crazy ice jumping scene looked straight out of a sci-fi/fantasy movie taking place on an alien planet. The greatest dog musher in the world with the greatest dog team of all-time would of died exactly 5 seconds into this movie. The frost/ice around the outside of the frame during the whole movie also looked super hacky. I don't know, just could of been better imo if it wasn't filmed so much like it was a cartoon, but I guess it is a Disney film...
