A solid entry into the superhero genre, X - Men lands some solid punches while missing some as well. The prejudice theme was well done and the intellectual mutants are great as played by McKellen and Stewart. That plus an awesome Wolverine. But the CGI scenes are what spoil it, making it look way outdated and kinda silly. Regardless, a good start to a franchise.
Made on smaller budget than superhero films today, X-Men suffers from rushed writing and sometimes crap effects (even for its day). Still, the Wolverine/Rogue relationship holds up very well at the heart of the movie.
I was putting off watching this film as I just assumed that it was going to be bad, along with all the others. But it was surprisingly really enjoyable.
I have to say I really like the X-men movies. Never read the comic books but immediately liked the movies. The first part is a film full of action and lots of different characters (so something's there for everyone) and it's nice to see how they all find each other. Concerning acting, I most appreciated the performances of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ian McKellen as Magneto.
Agreeing with senor here. Silly CGI, which made it look old. It made all the mutant skills look not very trustworthy. Planning on seeing all the five films now, so hopefully it gets better with time.
