I can't believe I've put it off so long but I finally saw the whole series over one weekend. Most unintentionally hilarious franchise I've ever seen.
Of course, if you don't have the time, you can just see the stares and you pretty much get the idea.
A rare inside look at war and battle from the hearts of men who lay their lives down in them. Beautiful cinematography and superb acting from a large and mostly underestimated cast, as some of the best performances come from relatively unknown actors. Both tragic and poetic, philosophical and gritty, but never preachy or complacent.
Some will be put off by the length but there's not a wasted scene.
How is this movie in the "Family" official list? lol
It's one of the most adult fantasy comedy I've seen this Princess Bride! And just as wonderful, better even.
A true classic and in the fantasy genre, crowded with so much crap, it's a rare movie.
Terrible acting for the most part and disastrous writing. The dialogs are so cliché, it feels like they were doing it on the fly. The direction is not helping at all, with cheesy over the top music playing through.
Good animation and very effective storyline about human flaws and the pits humanity can fall to. I'm not an idealist but I would have loved to see a little of what makes us worth saving. Still, it's worth watching.
"is disgustingly feminist, all women are super smarts and solve all the problems, but all men are stupid and only serve to fire weapons."
You got the part where that was a real story, yeah? And you'll be happy to know that now that women can serve, they may also serve to fire weapons in future movies. Welcome to the 21st century, Mitt.
Great performances and a very realistic movie albeit bleak at times. How can someone reject their kids for loving someone? Wasn't the Bible supposed to teach love?
Amazing series of underwater shorts aiming at becoming a big screen trilogy. Check it out and spread it around to make it happen. Once you tried it, you'll want to see it in theatres.
A total disaster. Rossum holds herself well with the acting but her singing is flat and artificial. It's definitely a few steps up from Butler who is too handsome a phantom, acts terribly and sings off key. Nothing even all the technique they threw on his "singing" could do to fix it.
Older people? Pensioners? Yeah I guess people who were 12 in 79 and would be now... in their early 40ies *gasp* are in hospices.
This movie is boring for everyone, not just kids. It's never really sure what it wants to be and the plethora of special effects straight out of the cataclysmic movies catalog doesn't help, it hinders.
Beautifully animated and directed, the music is superb, but it seems a little pointless in the end. A good animated short needs more than a pretense for beautiful animation to be great. There's a good premise but not much is done with it.
It is worth checking out though.
Brilliant story of course. The direction is ridiculous though and of all the A-listers trying to pass as singers capable to act and sing at the same time, only Hathaway makes a mark. And quite a mark in a very short time. Not only does she sing perfectly without overdoing it but she brings an emotion to her arias, as well as the sung dialog, that very few who played the part over 25 years managed. Impressed.
Hugh Jackman is not bad in the lead, although he conveys more when he's silent, which is ironic in a musical. For some reason, his singing is unnecessarily forced, which is a shame because he has a good voice, but his machine gun vibrato pulls me out of the story every time.
The rest of the cast is mostly forgettable (and I won't get started on Crowe's Javert because really, after he's sung the first 10 seconds, there's not much else to be said, sadly)
The first movie from a "comedy group" seen on Youtube. It's got a few chuckles but it's trying very hard way too early and not everyone can make the transition from 2 mn humor to 75 mn comedy. The acting, the direction, everything feels very very rough and as easy as it is to shoot jokes at the 70ies, the jokes fall short and the movie never takes off from a landing strip of short cheap jokes
Not as good as the book unfortunately. And I guess I shouldn't expect much from people who think fantasy or literature started with Harry Potter but the book was written in the 1960ies. You're right though, both stories are uncannily similar. JK Rowling ripped off Earthsea and not very well either.
Cliché, predictable, overlong oversimple "plot". Bad acting, poor directing, terrible dialog. And that's not even going into how many other movies and scifi classics they ripped off.
Almost hard to believe this is so bad, cliché and a basic rip off Star Wars with dragons thrown in instead of the force. You'd think a 14 year old wrote it... oh wait...
The movie is even worse than the books though. Be warned. I wonder how much they paid all these illustrious actors to put their names on that turd.
