A deeply dark and hard movie with incredible performances and fascinating characters. Well worth watching but if you're depressed, skip it for a while.

That's what happens when directors listen to critics too much and start thinking they're "special". And then they try so hard to be special, it's all over. Pretentious, boring but hey it's artsy so it must be special.

I think the "no chemistry" argument is more between the characters. The actors have wonderful chemistry in spite of the script which makes her cold and unfeeling, using a kid as a prop and him the sensitive victim of her career.
I'm on the fence about the movie. I think they pushed it a little far to make it "obvious" and other movies deal with the issue much better, like All About Eve, without making the female character look like she's surrendering to the little wife's lifestyle but it's not a bad movie for that.

A terrible waste of a great cast. Read the book or watch the other movie, this one is not worth your time.

Terribly boring movie about a crucial historical moment. The acting is so bad throughout that it's hard to focus on what would otherwise be just a bland dry recital of facts anyway.

How does that end up on a list of 1,000 best movies ever made? Seriously? It's cliche after cliche topped by average acting.

Very nice flick. You can see it for free at the Canadian Film Board site.

I guess this movie is fantastic for people who have no idea how a class action lawsuit works or that a lot of companies don't really care what happens to people and try to buy their way out of trouble.
I'm not really sure how Julia Robert won an Oscar for that part since it's neither challenging, nor very different from her usual "loud mouth/big smile" shtick that made her famous in Pretty Woman.

Great story about human weaknesses. Now the problem with Mamet dialogue is you have to be a special kind of actor to make it sound real. Everyone in the movie is right on the money but the female lead. With a lesser story, the wheels would come off the wagon completely because of her terrible acting but in the movie, she's forgettable.

Really terrible. Nolte seems to be the only professional actor in the bunch. Lousy story. Worse direction. Waste of time.

One of my fave Porky cartoon from Tex Avery.

The genius of Tex Avery: take something completely conventional and make it totally crazy, declining the theme to pure brilliance.

I try and try but I never really found the Merry Melodies cartoons funny. Give me a Tex Avery over this any time.

I like the comments that it's lame. Of course, it's lame! It's Superman! It's a 1930ies concept with limited imagination. It's still lame, only now it's lame with special effects.

Quite ironic considering Disney was supporting the Nazis. Not a very effective piece of propaganda either but it's worth seeing as evidence to our history and to remember that propaganda can take many forms, even today, and less obvious ones

Not really surprised that people who are just checking this to get awards and had managed to live without ever seeing a Laurel and Hardy movie find it boring.
Also whoever is doing this "better" now is just copying it. These guys invented it. Big diff.

It was on Youtube and was deleted. A lot of Brakhage's work is still there so maybe this one will get reuploaded

Anyone who ever thought Toy Story was innovative should watch that one and reconsider.
