I watched Batman Begins and Dark Knight back-to-back a few weeks ago in preparation for Rises. If you ask me, the two films work so much better as a whole, which is very rare for films in a series, even Star Wars doesn't quite accomplish the same cohesiveness. In Begins we see the creation of Batman and his motivations, which is logically followed by him facing a villain (who arguably was created as a result of Batman’s existence) that he can’t defeat (an unstoppable force, Joker, and an immovable object, Batman). Very, very, very interested to see how Rises will fit into it all and conclude one of cinema's most ambitious trilogies.
Anyway, this film was pretty bland for a movie about a guy who jumps around in red spandex. It's like they didn't want to make it too gritty but didn't want to make it too silly, so in the end it ended up in the middle, completely flat. And the plot was all over the place. It's certainly no Spider-Man 2. But it's okay. Not great, not bad. Just... eh.
I will never understand the criticism of the score. Don't overthink it, FEEL it. It's one of the most fitting scores ever devised for a motion picture.
Cons:
ADD editing and sound design gave me a headache.
The humour is cartoony, unfunny, and completely out of place.
Horribly predictable, making it very hard to get excited during action scenes.
Pros:
Fucking Harry Dean Stanton cameo!! YES
I don't mind a film that's lacking in "depth" as long there's still enough character development and good storytelling to make the film enjoyable to watch, but my initial impression is that The Avengers comes too shy of both. There were some parts I did really enjoy, but it’s a shame to see them add up to nothing. The horrible humour was the biggest kick in the balls. I haven’t seen them all, but none of the other Marvel movies were this silly.
I'll watch The Avengers again on home video and we'll see if a second time makes a difference.
Eh, I don't mind. Just bring back the stuff you took off the profile page and I'll be happy. Even better, do what BadSmile suggested. I think personalisation is far more important on a site like this than social interactivity.
I saw this, and I can't believe people saying this was boring. This is far, far from boring. It's almost not boring enough. No-one ever shuts up in this damn movie (one of the reasons it's irrelevant who the other character are, and even more irrelevant to "keep track of", because the only one we like is Guido). I have to say, this is the closest representation how tormenting working with other people can be.
@Oneironaut: The shorter one is actually the exact same movie, just projected at a different frame-rate.
And while it's great, no doubt, I do agree that it's influence and importance outweights it's acutal quality. But hey, it also has what may be cinema's first twist ending!
How are you guys seeing this? It's not in the public domain (so it isn't on YouTube or Internet Archive), there's no DVD, and it's hasn't played on TCM for a while.
Fantastic stuff. Comedy, horror, drama, action, tragedy, romance... Everything you go to the movies for. I don't understand the hate for it. It's far and away from boring (I might even make the argument that it moves a little too fast in parts). The idea of taking what would be a standard romantic comedy and giving it the backdrop of a zombie outbreak is pure genius.
I agree with Scream1008. There's a great, witty sense of humour and genuine emotion. The ending is both hilarious and touching, and even a little sad. Plus, it has two Queen songs. Good ones too.
And like all good zombie movies, there's a little social commentary sprinkled here and there that elevates it from a great horror/comedy to a real stand-out of the zombie genre.

@Aissi: I totally agree. If this movie moved even just slightly faster it's mesmerising pace and mood would be ruined.Movie comment on Batman Begins

@verdikt: What about Otto Preminger?Certainly was entertaining, but I do wonder whether it can withstand a second viewing, now that all is revealed. Guess I'll find out eventually.
Still, gotta love that voice-over at the end.

Starts out very strong but falls into the typical Disney "fix the bad magic spell" plot too quickly. A real shame. Still pretty good though. It is nice to see Disney is finally out the dark ages in terms of female characters though.
