ICM is much better today then it was a year ago. Nevertheless, there are a few urgent changes. The privacy settings need to be worked upon a lot. Basically, the privacy table for the activity stream shouldn't coincide with the privacy settings for the entire site. When I decide I don't want people to see on the activity stream that I added a list, that shouldn't mess with the list's privacy settings. Those things are different. People should be able to access my list of checks even if I decide that I don't want them to be notified every time I check a movie.
When that option is not available for me to make, I'm being trapped.
Also, it makes no sense for the activity stream to be viewable retrospectively to the time of one's sign up, specially to ANYONE offline, that is, someone who doesn't have an account. In this case, making that old information, created privately, entirely public without many alternatives if we want the site to remain functional, is wrong. I don't believe that is a wise move on your part.
Can anyone confirm that IMDB paid users have access to a top 1000 voted by regular users—that is, whose top is the same as top 250? Even so, ICM could get in trouble for publicly sharing that list.
