@Bigander the voice-over was added for visually impared children mate. I agree that The Wrong Trousers is pretty awful with it, but I don't think those blind kids mind it so much. You can see it without them though, just a quick search on google, like I did.

Disappointing. It's not a bad film by any means, but I was expecting better. It's very romanticized however, I knew that going in, so that wasn't a problem.
The true Blanche Barrow said "That movie made me look like a screaming horse's ass" and indeed, this is true. I can't believe Estelle Parsons won an Oscar.
In contrast, Warren Beaty, Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman and Gene Wilder were great imo.
Still, I just felt the film didn't have anything different to offer. I would give it an 7/10, however recognizing it's influence in filmmaking, I will give it an 8/10.

You can see where they ran out of footage and were obligated to move to the future, yet, this doesn't seem to affect the ending.
I enjoyed it a lot, my only problem with it, is Anatole's character, he was very cartoony while all the other felt like real 19th century frenchman.

Cinema at it's most primal. Wonderful, I could watch this short over and over again. And to think it's more than a century old.

I'm watching this again because that ending left me baffled... I don't think I've got the message. "to err is human" so is okay to be an ignorant, stubborn and somewhat violent prick? I think they were going for "to err is human" so don't let your flaws keep you from progressing? Well second view here I go...

Better than Shaun of the dead! [2] The great acting, the wonderful chemistry between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the fact they play on ALL action tropes - Lone Wolf, melodramatic music, sunglasses, one liners, giant brutes, suave villains, overload of gunpower, the villains terrible aim, the big explosion, the Point Break scene :') and others - not to mention the kickass score and beautiful respresentation of the rural English countryside. The only thing that annoyed me was the editing during the final showdown, it was too fast, cutting needlessly from one actor to the other, in shots so quick you'd think Ingmar Bergman or Tyler Durden is playing tricks on you.
Still, one of the best comedies I've ever seen 4.5/5

There is something about William H. Macy perfomance/character that got under my skin. yah didn't like it. Outside of that, the performances of Frances McDormand, Peter Stromare and Steve Buscemi where great and all had great comedic moments. Still, I think No Country for Old Man and The Big Lebowski are much more interesting works by the Coen Brothers.

I understand why people love and why some hate it. Overall I thought that we're a lot of funny scenes like the bunny, the frenchmen, Robin's minstrels, the opening credits, "bloody weather", the swallows and the anarcho-syndicalist peasents to call it overrated...

Something small bothered me trought this movie...Did women in Japan shaved their eyebrows? It just seems so unnatural, the medium scared me more than most horror films!

So with the 15/01/2014 update of this list Paths of Glory, M, and The Departed are out of this list... I really hope Gangs of Wasseypur, Sholay, The Message are up to the task.

Really fun without being mindless. I was not infuriated by stupid characters and stupid actions. Also the main characters were very likeable and the special effects are pretty good for a low budget movie.

Although I liked this film, I have too agree with @ClassicLady when the topic is women. The way they're portrayed in this film is very unrealistic, everytime there was a woman on a scene I couldn't stop shaking my head. Outside that, it's a very good film, creating quite the atmosfere until the climax which was pretty satisfaying. All in all, it's worth the watch.

TOP 250? TOP 250? Yes this is an very emotional film but TOP 250???? This isn't any cinematical masterpiece, is just a really sad true history! By that standards why isn't The Blind side or Marley and Me on THE TOP 250 BEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME? I'm not the first to cry on this board, but I'm definitely the first to cry the death of the Imdb Top 250.

@ngenc let me start my rant by saying I'm not American, in fact, the American Government supported a Coup that turned my country into a dictatorship for 20 years.
But the fact is your excuse is bulls**t. We see a lot of american movies in here simply because most of them get a WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTION. So most american movies who are on these lists were seen by millions and enjoyed by most of them.
Just because this movie was a landmark in turkish cinema doesn't mean is one of the best films of the 90's or a film deserving of being on the Crime list.
I don't see dozens of South Americans, Africans, European or Oceanic films suddenly popping up on these lists.
What I do see is Turkish, Indian and Pakistanese films entering these list faster and faster when very few people actually saw said films outside their home country's!!!!
HOW COME ONLY THESE 3 COUNTRIES HAVE HIDDEN GEMS???!!!!

Ok, I agree that this movie last hour was a complete change in direction from the past hour and that for the most part the "martyrs religion" was nonsensical but the ending was perfect, just the best possible.
Also, I don't think that this was so gruesome or violent like some say, "Human Centipede" was grosser and Funny Games was much harder to watch.
The worst thing is that I was bored many times and this doesn't have any rewatchability.

I was pretty bored until the chase that climaxed in the "trial". As tcfaria said those last 20 mins made the movie. Not only it's a moment where the movie makes you reflect but mainly...Peter Lorre. JUST WATCH IT!
