Just being unusually "rape-y" for a '30s film doesn't mean it was good. A puzzling choice for a Criterion release. And the lead actress's Southern-belle accent is very inconsistent, besides.

Watched about a half-hour and bailed out. The fundamental "killing by time travel" premise is too silly for me.

I always wondered why Criterion would bother releasing this and, now that I've seen it, I still wonder why. Just a really average, uninvolving film that I suppose is only notable for presenting such a perversely flat, joyless depiction of competitive skiing.

26 checks this film shouldn't have.

The "Satantango" of sperm movies. Though it's on fewer lists.

I was intrigued to see Eric Bogosian pop up in the film for just a few moments, but I didn't realize until the closing credits that one of the newspaper editors was director Kathryn Bigelow! Wow.

This overcompensating "Up with female directors!!!" thing is really going too far. The idea that this is the 730th greatest film of all time is just laughable. It's not even the 730th greatest horror film.

I sensed this was not my sort of movie going into it and, boy, it was even less interesting than I imagined. What a dull, unappealing couple to worry about falling in love for no observable reason. A must for Prince Charles and Camilla swooners, if there are any. There was a secondary actress named Pamela Brown who had far more charisma than either lead -- I wish the movie had been about her. The best reason for me to watch was simply the surprise of seeing Petula Clark in a minor role, looking about 12 years old. Never would have recognized her, if I hadn't read the credits beforehand.

The IMDb poster for this film is the best. I wish it was displayed on ICM too.

If everyone started combing through their own check histories and updating the films with missing runtimes, directors and AKA titles (assuming the info exists on IMDb), imagine how fast the quality of ICM's database would improve. I've done so much individual work (mostly unnoticed) on this issue that it's embarrassing to even give numbers, and I wish more people were contributing. I can tell you from experience that work on Indian and pre-1930 films is particularly needed. Not to mention porn...ha. And if you're in the beta version, there are roughly 78 gazillion TV episodes that are not properly tagged.

And if you really get bitten by the bug, you'll start submitting missing data to IMDb yourself....

The most fake documentary I've ever seen. This was Oscar-nominated??

This has gotta be weirder than at least a third of the films on the "366 Weird" list. But one senses the writers had all the fun with the film's first half, and then had to sweat to figure out a story resolution.

The voice of the guy with the glasses directing the "documentary" sounds exactly like someone else, and I can't think who.

Cute enough. Fantasy tale serves as an excuse for bathing beauties to make water-ballet formations in a lake.
