Even if you ignore the repulsive attempts to romanticize the grooming, none of the characters are believable and the plot is entirely made out of holes. At times the whole thing comes off as parody of itself.
Also I think it would be worth noting that whether someone has cancer or not, a lump in an armpit is most commonly a swollen lymph node.
I was really looking forward to this because I just wanted to see Tove and Tuulikki go on adventures. If there was a posthumous movie made about me and the creators chose to focus almost solely on the dysfunctional relationships I've been in, portrayed them in a really romanticizing manner, put sentimental emphasis on patriarchal approval, then ended the movie the moment that things start to turn for the better, I think I might come back to do some haunting. But that's just me, Tove R.I.P.
There really hasn't been any shortage of these kinds of voyeristic, pornographic depictions of sex abuse and they don't offer us anything of value.
Also the point about modern youth being corrupted through substance use and whatnot is something that has been made over and over again since ancient times and it isn't a helpful narrative. They take after us grown ups. Maybe we could we take responsibility of our own actions rather than sensationalize about the kids model learning?
I knew that this was going to be miserable from the synapsis but since it's a documentary I did not actually expect there to be rape on screen. Extremely unethical filmmaking.
To everyone complaining about lack of character development, was it somehow lost on you that this story isn't a work of fiction? What kind on development do you think you would go through while kidnapped, enslaved and brutally abused? Chronic traumatization generally tends to leave a person stuck in an escapist state of some kind. Solomon among others demonstrated amazing psychological resilience by preserving his willpower and taking action to help fellow victims after his release.
