Oniric in a sense, beautiful in a sense, shows about the doubts of the human mind in a re-visited Arthurian tale. Dont try to understand, just experience.

A little bit like early lanthimos, except lanthimos did try to keep the spectator interested.

Maybe too much avantgardiste for me ...

Impressive atmosphere in this movie.
Wrapping up strong middle east vibrations and a sordid murder story within the 2011 egyptian revolution gives a powerful experience of reality in a movie that always waves between lie and truth, spoke and unspoke, fair and unfair, rich and poor.

The fact that Egypt government didn't allow the movie to be shot in Cairo and that it had to be shot in Marocco is also a great testimony to the plot's impressions : [try to be real / tells about reality] in a context where somehow it's already wrong.

A bit long sometimes.

Even though the first part has some seriously stereotypic patterns of opposition, it depicts beautifully the beauty of the kazakh's desert and his people.
The story about redemption in a bad and corrupted world, also seems a little bit deja-vu, but doesn't miss the point and I went from "meh" to almost tearful eyes in the end.
I should add it reminded me a lot of the early work of Kitano (Violent Cop - Sonatine) with maybe a different touch of simplicity.
