This is the most powerful and successful satiric comedy I have ever seen in criticizing the famous Marshall Aids! Policy.
A small town in Spain is chosen to set the background. One day the folk is told that they would get enormous economical help from America if they succeed in greeting them well enough. So people begin brainstorming, prepare lots of things, write their urgent wish-list and wait...
The urgent wish-list, I think, is the most arguable-important part in discussing the necessity of this so called Aids! Policy.
Klaus Kinski's performance and the girls' show at the end and the message the movie wanted to spread was excellent but not the whole movie. I watched in 3 days. :P
It has too many similar characteristic motives -subsequently used in Tree of Life. Inner voices, inner interpretations, long shot natural elements, showing trees from down to above- it must be an obsession for the director I guess.
Plot was interesting but I don't believe he was objective when narrating...
As visuals TOL was of course ahead of time but as story telling TNW was better...
Those interested in masonic things should really see this, it is said to be a Nazi wartime propaganda movie depicting the world of Freemasons and how they plan to cause wars.
