This film was a happy surprise as I wasn't expecting much of it due to bad reviews on the web but hey, this is Del Toro we are talking about, so I decided to give it a try and boy, was I glad for doing it so!
Mama may not be the best horror film of all times, but it succeeds on its proposal, which is the little girls' creepy relation with the entity they call Mama and how it turns to a nightmare, leading to a really surprising (and a bit disturbing, I have to admit) ending.
Someone once said that you know a horror film is good when it makes you anxious to the point of telling the screen "Don't go in there! Don't open that door! Get out of there, you're gonna die!" and I can assure you that "Mama" does that to you. A lot of times!
