This is my 3669th movie and made me so disgusted with cinema, it will be my last. Goodbye. It's been a ride.

I want to start a crowd funder for Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth to adopt me. Once a year - never mind the date - we meet for a Christmas lunch.

@MartCous - think it's just a case of Weinstein magic. Patel wouldn't get the nomination in the leading category, so they lobbied for the supporting role (justifying it that he's sharing the character of Sharoo and isn't in the film for the first 1/3 or whatever).

Same thing happened last year with Carol. Mara had no chance winning the leading statuette, so they took a punt and craftily underplayed her importance in the film.

I feel bad for not really adding much to the discussion, but I felt compelled to mention that this movie is an awful, dated, cliched, racist piece of shit.

Russell Crowe was my favourite part of this film, paying homage to several of his previous roles. He channelled the baffling obsessiveness of Javert, the rugged brutishness of Bud White in LA Confidential (also displaying a touching throwback to James Cromwell's wonderful Irish accent), and the hard-headedness of Jim Braddock in Cinderella Man.

A must see for all Crowe fans.

Probably the worst movie that I've seen in the '100 Greatest Films of Australian Cinema' so far. I'm guessing it only really made the list as it marked the on screen debut of Michael Hutchence who, unsurprisingly, performed several musical numbers throughout the film.

The plot is insipid, the acting underwhelming, and the photography very uninspired. Long tracking shots seemed to be used in excess simply for the sake of it.

That said, the film did have some rather funny moments; mostly intentional.

This is the worst movie that I have seen this year. How you can make giant-fighting-monsters this boring is beyond me. If Gareth Edwards ever feels that film-making isn't doing it for him, he should definitely channel his energies into finding a cure for insomnia. This effort shows that he isn't far off.

Good Aussie flick. A few cliched moments, and the genre kind of turns on a point at one stage. But overall funny, and enjoyable.
