Amazing story of survivial and triumph, and marketed as such, which defuses much of the tension and as a result the film is an overlong dull exercise in moving from one setpiece to the next. How the Coens are involved in this is unclear as there is no sense of humour or unexpected twist, two things readily associated with them. Deakins cinematography is luminous and the acting is uniformly decent, but this is a shadow of what it could, and should, have been. 9 years 4 months ago -

Started rather slowly and unnecessary amount of character profiling but right about the time of the plane crash things got better. Great suvival story. I'd recommend this movie as it got recommended to me by my barber, lol :) 9 years ago
