Amazing story of survivial and triumph, and marketed as such, which defuses much of the tension and as a result the film is an overlong dull exercise in moving from one setpiece to the next. How the Coens are involved in this is unclear as there is no sense of humour or unexpected twist, two things readily associated with them. Deakins cinematography is luminous and the acting is uniformly decent, but this is a shadow of what it could, and should, have been.
Started rather slowly and unnecessary amount of character profiling but right about the time of the plane crash things got better. Great suvival story. I'd recommend this movie as it got recommended to me by my barber, lol :)
what i mean is i felt that the actors were the most experienced part of the making of this movie. I love Angelina Jolie as an actress and her work as a humanitarian, but as a director, lets just hope she gets better. It was a good first try. But i felt that all parts of this movie were inexperienced, the editing, composing, set design, even the writing. Its a very black sheep for writers Joel and Ethan Coen.
There were just too many elements that made this movie almost a chore to sit through. Still, the actors did a great job, and the story is none the less inspirational.
Beautiful movie, visually it looks great, my favourite scenes are the opening in the plane, and in the raft, the raft scene was the best part for me.
After that it drag a little, the camp scenes were decent, I think Jack O'Connell did a fantastic job, great performance, Domhnall Gleeson was also pretty good.
I really Hate that guy that kinda looks like a girl.
Good movie nevertheless, I want to see your next movie Jolie.
