Aswan International Women's Film Festival was founded in 2017 by Egyptian screenwriter Mohamed Abdel Khalek and has quickly become one of Egypt's premier film events.

On it's 5th edition they announced a list of the 100 best films on women throughout the history of Egyptian and Arab cinema, chosen by 70 Egyptian and Arab film critics.
